Likely would have been fine. It needs to stick AND handle expansion and
contraction.
You can definitely have things too stiff when engineering something.
Dow 795 for the win.
BTW.. slightly off topic comment on previous off topic comment... I hope for a
strong polar vortex this winter. Contra
I resealed several with black LifeSeal. No reported problems.

No need to rub it in.
Erie rarely gets that cold, but every now and then the icy polar vortex reaches
us.

, smaller hatches were affected. I had the
lens on that hatch re-bedded and now take it home for winter storage.

I used GE UltraGlaze, SSG4000
Hi Fred,
I replaced all 7 of my hatch lenses, at the same time I did the 5' long
windows. Used Dow corning 795 black for both. Messy but good!

I have a cartridge of UltraGlaze you can try. I don't know whether it's
still good, but if it is, it will save you some time trying to find a
source. I don't remember where I bought it. Maybe Home Depot.

I replaced all the hatches on Nina with Lewmar Ocean series that I found
used but in great condition. I only used butyl tape. 7 years later...no
leaks.

I used GE UltraGlaze, SSG4000 when I replaced the acrylic on my forward
hatch. It's the same stuff that's used to attach automobile windows.

Why not the same Dow 795 used on windows? Otherwise, I suggest asking a local
automobile windshield replacement company (like Safelite) what it uses.
