Just speculating here,
...maybe it's the antifreeze that screws up the impellers! I don't put
antifreeze through my raw water circuit ever, just drain it in the fall. my
impeller has been in about 6 years and still looks like it will last another 6.

I have had much the same experience as Sebastien .I have replaced the
impellor every 3rd or 4th year in the spring on spec. I winterize with
antifreeze each Fall and then pack the impelor with petroleum jelly
which helps with the spring startup

I don't believe that flexibility has much to do with impeller performance.

I has a similar experience a couple of months ago. My Universal M35B was out of
the boat for replacement of a broken motor mount. When the engine was started
at launch, no water came out of the exhaust
incident when I replace the impeller in a year or two.

I check mine each season's end when I winterize. If it looks good, it goes back
in. I have installed one new one in 15 years and that includes several runs of
a few minutes each year without water. They are pretty durable. I check for
cracking.

I change Calypso's 4-108 raw water impeller at the start of each season then
put the lightly used old one in the spares box. It is also my practice to
check the impeller prior to setting off on a longer trip where a sudden los
