In any reasonable breeze (+8 knots) I find generally that our pointing ability is so much better with the board down compared to any increased drag it adds that it is no contest--board all the way down, in my case ~ 7.25 feet. In light air upwind, we drop it partially--maybe 6 feet. Downwind in
