As I recall I was able to successfully eliminate the squeal by removing the
spacer plate in my 22ST. I'll investigate again.

sure they weren't rubbing I still hear the squeak.

The screws that hold the spring tension on the line lifter are too tight
and are rubbing on the bronze spindle below. A series of small washers or
grinding of the screws short will most likely fix the problem.

I think the Barient 27s are measured somehow differently than Lewmar; they're
roughly equivalent to a Lewmar 40, size-wise. What size boat do you have?
