Unless it is the new style, just pull on it and wiggle it from side to side at the same time. Think flexible plastic hose barb stuck into a pastic tube. Same as the Nicro vents which are not solar, like the ones on the top of the transom of most C&C yachts. Not sure your 37 has them, but most of
