Interesting.
I presume it is a relatively recent change, although the description in the 2012 WM catalog is exactly the same as in the 2013 catalog. The 4" stainless vent I bought at WM last spring is removable, as were the Day/Night vents in stock at my local WM on Friday. Alex, WM does not object if you open the box to look at the product. Perhaps your local WM still has older style vents in stock like mine does. My local store also keeps old catalogs behind the counter. Perhaps they can check an older catalog for a part number for a removable vent and see if there are any more available in the warehouse? Sometimes the prices WM charges is woth it because of the customer service they offer. Rick Brass From: CnC-List [mailto:cnc-list-boun...@cnc-list.com] On Behalf Of Dennis C. I wish it weren't. I wish Nicro still made a removable one. You can still find the Nicro removables on eBay. There are other powered day/night vents available. Sunsei makes one. Don't know anything about it. Dennis C. There is a collar attached to the boat with 4 screws, and the vent itself pushes into the collar. I'm pretty sure that the deck plate you use to seal up a Nicro cowl vent would also work to seal up the collar. I had to go to West Marine this afternoon to pick up some parts for my Zodiac inflatable, so I decided to look at the Nicro vents in stock to see if the design had changed to one that was not removable. The inventory of Day/Night Plus Solar Vents (the name has apparently changed) that they had is the same as mine. There is a collar with seal that attaches to the deck, a fan blade that can be flipped over to give either intake or exhaust, and a removable fan. The 3" moves 600 cu.ft/hour and the 4" moves 1000. See page 536 of the 2013 WM catalog, or search their website for part number 10447084. There are, indeed, two styles of Nicro vents. The other one is called a Mini Vent 1000, moves 700 cu.ft/hour when the sun is shining and gives passive ventilation if you have a breeze at night, and it is attached directly to the deck without the need for a "Nicro Vent Deck Plate". It IS cheaper than the Day/Night vent. Also see page 536 or search for part number 183733. Perhaps this is the one that Dennis was thinking about in his earlier response. BTW, there is also a Nicro Air Vent 500, which is passive only (moves 600-1000 CU.Ft/hr is a 15 knot breeze) and attaches directly to the deck. FWIW, it is only $49. _______________________________________________ This List is provided by the C&C Photo Album http://www.cncphotoalbum.com <http://www.cncphotoalbum.com/> CnC-List@cnc-list.com
