I just wanted to offer an update with regard to cleaning off the old caulk,
So, I carefully scraped as much caulk as I could off with a razor
blade. 2 of the hatches are located right in the non skid! (that
sucked!) This ate up 2 boat days!
Then, I got the McKanica Silicon caul
Another vote for butyl tape. It depends on kind of caulk you are trying to
remove. McKanica works pretty well on Silicone. If it's a urethane caulk,
mechanical methods and Debond may work. Butyl tape will probably respond
to mineral spirits, but is easy to remove mechanically, anyway.
