Bill,
I have the same compass. Here is a link to the manual.

Do you have a simrad/robnet auto pilot? AP 20, 21, 22, 35?
Is your RFC35R setup for NMEA 0183?

Mine was like Chuck's.
I found the wire to be shockingly small and the copper terminals heavily
corroded and poorly terminated. If relatively low voltage and current was
able to attach the 1/4-20 bolt to the washer I figure that the current and

Thanks Dennis,
Love your comments. The yards around Annapolis are crazy.

Go to Walmart and buy 3-4 tubes of WaterWeld at $6 each. Knead them and
slap them on the leak. Slide the hose back on. Go sailing.
Find a yard that will repair it during the next haul out for $500. Am I
missing something here? For $10K I'll fly there and fix it myself.

Hi all,
A friend of mine just discovered why her C&C 29 MkII was leaking. Water was
coming in near the hose that supports the Prop shaft packing gland. She hired
a mechanic to pull the shaft and replace the hose which everyone thought was
split. Once the shaft was removed, the hose was foun
Is this a new occurrence? Did you check the area around the fluxgate for

I'd say check the orientation of the fluxgate. Do you have a control

Well, I did the turns, and it is still 135° off. I guess I will have to dig a Little deeper. Maybe It has something to do with how the boat is rotated. On Jun 27, 2019 1:11 PM, Bill wrote:There is an RFC 35r rate compass installed. I'm assuming it would be a fluxgate, probably 2002 vintage. Good ca
David,
Find the other end under the mast step.
If it's like mine, there is a large washer under a keel nut with a 1/4" x 20
stud welded to it, and the ground wire which is simply a foot long battery
cable with eyes crimped on each end is fastened to the bolt.

Dave,
I would drill and tap the closest backing plate with a 10-32 or 1/4-20
thread and use a standard lug. I might even consider a 5/16-18 thread
and use a standard premade ground cable.

There is an RFC 35r rate compass installed. I'm assuming it would be a fluxgate, probably 2002 vintage. Good call. This has me thinking. I just brought it up on the screen and I can actually calibrate it . I couldn't figure out how in the world I would do that, because they are so old and differen
Does it agree with your binnacle compass? :)
First, check the course setting on your chartplotter. Is your chartplotter
heading set to magnetic? If so, swing (calibrate) your fluxgate compass.
If that doesn't correct the problem, check the area around your fluxgate

It sounds like you need to swing your fluxgate compass. That’s what the heading

Is there a fluxgate involved or is it using GPS derived heading info?

I am having difficulty correcting the rotation of a little boat icon on the screen to the direction I am going. I am currently traveling at 238 degrees, and the boat is pointing around 360. Does this require a compass calibration, or is it some simple setting? This is also screwing up my true wind

If you’re going to do Mystic, which I also recommend, forget Brewers and stay
in the Mystic Seaport. It’s a short walk into town, your boat is on display in
the museum, and you have the whole place to yourself at night. Our first C&C
rendezvous was there and it was a blast.
All the best,

One final recommendation: Brewer's in Mystic. It is a fun sail inside Fisher's
Island, and then up the channel past Noank to Mystic. Do not be tempted to cut
the dog-leg at Noank entrance.
The Brewer yard has BBQs, pool, and good showers, and then an easy dinghy ride
up the river to the Mystic

Thanks Dave; we just replaced the hatches with new, so I don't think they
reverse... however, I'll check and see; the midship hatch is used for
ventilation only so it isn't much of a issue...
