Doug,
Thank you for your input. In the end I ordered the Isotherm SPA 25 as it
allowed for more installation options.I have had it in hand for a few days
now, and I am liking the idea of installing the unit under the port q-berth as
you have it. The more I think about it, the more I am c
I use Acid Magic, same kind of thing. You can smear it on with bare hands

I used Micron in Delaware Bay, Chesapeake Bay, and the Sounds of eastern
North Carolina. Water here is brackish to salt, depending on proximity to

Wow all my years in Ottawa I don't think I used 5 gal. I did run some
through probably about a gallon. Then I would go and
drain the engine through the frost plugs as per Yanmar recommendation.
I figured anything left in the engine would have enough
antifreeze to keep it soft enough. 11 year
Interesting that the same thing happened on my 36 about 10 years ago. I sent
my to Metal Mast and had a new one made from stainless in less than a week.
All the holes lined up and it was less than $400.

On the sungject of goosenecks, one of the tangs on my fitting on the mast broke
off from wear. I shipped broken piece to Guido at Garhauer and he made new
out of stainless to fit perfectly and used same hole pattern so no new holes to

Any harm in using muriatic acid on my bronze prop or s/s shaft? That's where I
