I got an upright 5qt made by moler. It comes with 3 different hoses.
Works fine with the smallest hose. Nice thing is that it holds a bit of
vacuum so you're not pumping the whole time.

Thanks to everyone who chimed in with recommendations and well wishes on

Sunday I tried my hand at an oil change, but a borrowed oil pump from

Welcome..
You guys should make it up to the annual C&C rendezvous in August in
Telegraph Harbor on Thetis Island. We went for the first time last
year and loved it. Most C&C's I have seen in one place since the
Niagara on the Lake Sailing Club!

Hi,
This is Eric I own Hee Soo (formerly Black Magic). She seems to have had a
few designations in terms of hull.
Here is what I know.
She came from the factory in 1993 designated as 34/36+ hull but had the
triple spreader offshore rig. Some time around 2000 or so she was

That looks like a textbook case of fatigue failure: a local
discontinuity causes high stresses and starts a tiny crack, over time
the cracks expand in size, causing the "beach" marks, finally what's
left isn't strong enough to carry the load and the whole thing breaks.

Joe,
By the pictures the shaft sheared off right where it exits the hull.

It looks like the shaft was cracked about 1/3 through the shaft for a while.

My 25 II had two batteries and an inboard gas tank on opposite sides, so it
balanced out OK; by the time you get anchor, dock lines, the BBQ and all the
other fun stuff in there, I do not think it will be a major issue;
The 25 is a great boat, in a puff, it will dig in and accelerate; keep her
Outboard tanks should only be stored in specially designed compartments that
are sealed off from the rest of the boat, with a drain so the potentially
explosive fumes can dissipate. Otherwise, keep the tank in the cockpit.
My old 25 Mk 1 had the lazarette set up to hold the tank.

The effect of the batteries in boat balance will largely depend on exactly
where they are stowed relative to the centerline of the boat, and what gear is

I purchased 1981 C&C 25 here in the western Chesapeake this fall. It's now

board, both stowed in the port cockpit locker. Considering the weight of
