If you want a stand alone depth finder, check the Hummingbird. On my P28 I replaced a datamarine by cutting a piece of starboard in a 6 inch circle and then cutting a hole for the instrument. I placed the transducer in the bilge with vasaline. Worked for 2 years until I sold the boat. Joel 35/3
