Any advice on what to do with a new laptop lithium ion battery? The
opinions out there are rather confusing as these are not suppose to have
the charge cycle memory problems of the ni-cads. Some say you should
not do deep discharge and charge cycles. Others say though you are not
suppose to,

LiIon and LiPo batteries don't have the memory effects that older battery

The pack may be 'worn' if continuously run in a hot enviroment or if left
full discharged for a length of time. At some point the control/safety
electronics will flag an error and mark the pack as 'dead'. You can not
recover from this

This is a really old article. It is still somewhat applicable, though
both Intel and AMD/ATI have their drivers upstream. ATI has both the
proprietary fglrx driver and the open "radeon" driver. For newer ATI
