This is a really old article.  It is still somewhat applicable, though
both Intel and AMD/ATI have their drivers upstream.  ATI has both the
proprietary fglrx driver and the open "radeon" driver.  For newer ATI
cards (usually anything with HD in the name, but basically the radeon
35xx and up) you can use either, but older cards will need the fglrx
driver.

It does not look like a lot is happening though the project seems like
it is still alive.

I have long waited for this project to produce something fruitful.

You can get access to a dev board for a mere $750, but there are only
a limited number that they are trying to give to developers.
