LiIon and LiPo batteries don't have the memory effects that older battery
types had, so pretty much install and just use adapter when you can.

There are some ACPI (I believe) settings which can make using the
'crotch-top' a little more pleasant. You can limit the charging cycle to
start only if the pack is below X% which reduces heat build up.

The pack may be 'worn' if  continuously run in a hot enviroment or if left
full discharged for a length of time. At some point the control/safety
electronics will flag an error and mark the pack as 'dead'. You can not
recover from this....
