There are some ACPI (I believe) settings which can make using the 'crotch-top' a little more pleasant. You can limit the charging cycle to start only if the pack is below X% which reduces heat build up. The pack may be 'worn' if continuously run in a hot enviroment or if left full discharged for a length of time. At some point the control/safety electronics will flag an error and mark the pack as 'dead'. You can not recover from this....
