Hello,
Thank you very much for that script, CDE started right a way fine on a
Ubuntu (12.04 LTS) 32bit VM. With proper Desktop-Manager-selection list
from the login screen and working login/logout and session restore. In 1997
I used the desktop first, when I started my studies, now more than 10 ye
Hello,
Finally got it working. My final script to automate the install, compile,
and configuration all in one shot here:
#Do all steps as root
#Install and configure portmap and rpcbind for CDE
apt-get -y install portmap rpcbind
cd /etc/init
mv portmap.conf portmap.old
sed 's/OPTIONS=\"-w\"/OPTI
Hello,
I have a small update on the issue. When I try running as a Single User
(4.1 in the steps for the Linux build), it works and logs right into the
desktop. If I run the steps for 4.2 instead, it sits at blue screen saying
"Starting CDE..." but only after logging into the dtlogin "Login Manage

John -
Double check that you've setup and installed everything more or less
stock, as described in the docs referenced thus far - one process that
I've added, personally, to my local build, is a shell script:
#!/usr/bin/ksh
export TREE_BASE=/root/CDE/cdesktopenv-code/cde
export ADMIN="admin/Integ
There must be another problem.
Here it works fine, on
[atsol@callisto ~]$ cat /etc/issue.net
Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS
[atsol@callisto ~]$

Antonis.

Hello,
I was able to compile and install under Ubuntu 12.04 today. It works but
won't launch from lightdm login. In order to use it, I had to configure
gnome to go directly to the login prompt (text) instead of the GUI login.
Using these instructions:
