We have an HP d2d4112 system that presents a virtual tape changer to
our host that is running Bacula. The virtual tapes from the d2d can
be copied onto physical ones via an attached LTO-1840 tape drive. My
questions in this case would be:

I'm attempting to restore files from one client onto another client.
The new client has never had a backup job run, I just added it to the
bacula-dir.conf file today. I tried reloading all the bacula daemons
but the new client does not show up on the list of Defined Clients. I
expected it to show

I managed to fix the problem. If anyone else runs into this in the
future, here is the fix:

Starting a new thread for this topic because the subject of the other
one was not really accurate.
I can't seem to make bacula automatically load and unload the proper
tapes for my backup jobs. This means that I have to manually load and
unload tapes for each and every backup job which is tedious

Oddly this error seems to have gone away. I was able to run the
restore job with no issues, even though I didn't

Sorry, my bad. Some lists allow "reply" while others require "reply
all". I wasn't paying attention to the "to:" addre

Due to disk space limitations I would like to re-use the same volumes
each week for a single full backup. Every time I try to run a new
job, I get an error stating that bacula cannot find any append-able
volumes. It has been over six days since my last backup. Anyone know
how to make bacula re-u
Hello all:
Due to space limitations on our virtual tape library I would like to
re-use the same pool for weekly full backups. This particular job
does not have any incremental backups configured. The full backup is
about 1.2 terabytes in size and it spans two 800GB volumes in the
pool. I'd like

Ok, I'm running a backup of the raw device now and it's nice and zippy
now, I've already backed up 6GB in the last couple of minutes.
Awesome! Now

Actually there's only one instance of BackupPC. We have one BackupPC
server, and about 200 clients. It is an agent-less backup system that
uses rsync to trans

Hello bacula users:
We have a server that uses BackupPC to handle network-based backups of
a couple hundred hosts on our network. If you're not familiar with
BackupPC, it uses rsync and a clever pooling technique to optimize
storage space. The downside of this is that you can end up with
