I can't seem to make bacula automatically load and unload the proper tapes for my backup jobs. This means that I have to manually load and unload tapes for each and every backup job which is tedious. I think it's due to a labeling issue but maybe I'm missing something. Here is the output from the last scheduled job which is hung up right now waiting for a tape. Note the "Invalid slot=0 defined" message. 24-Mar 23:05 bacula-dir: Start Backup JobId 53, Job=BackupCatalog.2010-03-24_23.05.00 24-Mar 23:05 bacula-sd: Invalid slot=0 defined, cannot autoload Volume. 24-Mar 23:05 bacula-sd: 3301 Issuing autochanger "loaded? drive 0" command. 24-Mar 23:05 bacula-sd: 3302 Autochanger "loaded? drive 0", result is Slot 24. 24-Mar 23:05 bacula-sd: BackupCatalog.2010-03-24_23.05.00 Warning: Director wanted Volume "Bacula_Catalog". Current Volume "Nettracker_tape1" not acceptable because: 1998 Volume "Nettracker_tape1" status is Append, not in Pool. 24-Mar 23:05 bacula-sd: Invalid slot=0 defined, cannot autoload Volume. 24-Mar 23:05 bacula-sd: Please mount Volume "Bacula_Catalog" on Storage Device "d2d4112" (/dev/nst0) for Job BackupCatalog.2010-03-24_23.05.00 A "list volumes" command confirms that all volumes are indeed associated with slot 0. Thomas kindly suggested that I run the "label barcodes" command which I did, choosing my storage device and the default pool when I did so. This did not seem to help. Just to be sure I even ran the command again and confirmed that the "Bacula_Catalog" volume is labeled: Sending label command for Volume "724CE975" Slot 23 ... 3301 Issuing autochanger "loaded? drive 0" command. 3302 Autochanger "loaded? drive 0", result is Slot 22. 3307 Issuing autochanger "unload slot 22, drive 0" command. 3304 Issuing autochanger "load slot 23, drive 0" command. 3305 Autochanger "load slot 23, drive 0", status is OK. 3301 Issuing autochanger "loaded? drive 0" command. 3302 Autochanger "loaded? drive 0", result is Slot 23. 3920 Cannot label Volume because it is already labeled: "Bacula_Catalog" Label command failed for Volume 724CE975. So what am I missing here? Bacula has the volume, knows the label name, but still can't find it in slot 23... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Download Intel® Parallel Studio Eval Try the new software tools for yourself.
