Javier,
Backing up Windows Server 2003 isn't a problem. I backup a number of Windows
Server 2003 machines daily.
Bacula doesn't have a plugin that allows a "live" backup of SQL server. It
can back it up but you would need to use a run before script to create a
snapshot of your database and then
I would like to second Mark Hazen’s notion. Bacula is
great and anyone who has any part in developing and supporting this software
deserves many hearty thank yous. If you are ever in the Kingston, Ontario area
let me know and drinks are on me.

Has anyone done archiving like this with Bacula? Anyone have
any ideas, pitfalls etc with this plan?
Thanks in Advance,

Hey,
I have to procure some new storage and a tape library and
was wondering if anyone has tried Exabyte’s Magnum 1X7 with LTO2 drives? Any
caveats with mtx or bacula?

Raj,
If you are looking at doing a bare metal backup of a windows client you will
not be able to do it while Windows XP is loaded from the hard disk. The
linux cdrom and BartPE methods both require a reboot to an OS located on a
CDROM which then will allow bacula to access the hard drive and do a

All of my unix backups work fine. It’s only for windows clients that this
happens.
I gladly send off my bacula-dir.conf if anyone needs it.
