Sounds to me like the director is 100% busy writing stuff out to the
database - atleast that's what I've seen then I've seen a seemingly
hanging directory on our server. A quick peek with "pstack" (a Solaris
tool) gives that one thread ha
e NIS domain), and thus nscd always fails finding them...
(It seems to be working anyway though since it defaults to simply using
the uid/gid's directly).
Hmm... Dang it. I knew I should have restored the files *directly* to a
bacula-fd running on the target server. Hmm... I wo

Hmm.. Perhaps the tape drive is doing a lot of start-stop operations?
(Can't really check it right now - I'm 30km away from it right now :-)

Hi List! :-)
I'm (again) trying to improve the performance of our Bacula installation.
Currently it takes approx 2 full days for a full recover to generate the
(in bacula-dir) incore tree of files to restore for a 360GB partition
which is kind of annoying (especially when you make mistakes like I

using Suns own compiler suite on Solaris
systems. Works fine (and it generates *much* better code than the GNU
compilers) and since Studio 11 is now freely available...

There are free/purged tapes available in the Default pool which is used

sketchy but...).
I have backups running for the older pools/drives (pool Home uses drive

Umm.. Yes - it's correct. Perhaps some kind of temporary error?
