Might be reaching a bit, but do you have the NFS share configured such that
the root user on a remote system can access it? Normally that capability is
disabled by default (see no_root_squash option.)

I got my first backup jobs running on Bacula, and while they appear to be
working, they are extremely slow. The client is reporting only a 200-600 KB/s
rate.

I would argue that this machine is probably underpowered for what you
are doing with it. My guess is it has a single disk (or RAID1), and

Upgrade itDual 2GHz P4s, 2G RAM, 4 disks in a RAID 10 would do
