Hi,
has anyone scripts to enable ftp based backup?
i.e. write to local file, put on ftp server, delete
(and get from ftp server, read from local file)?
or any hints how to implement something like that?
Thanks for your help.

I want to know in advance which tapes to put into the library,
so it has enough/the right tapes for a full backup cycle on weekend.
till now I used to look at "purged" and moved those tapes to the
library and moved all the full/used/error/archive tapes to the
vault.
but that doesn't work well, if

Hi Phil,
thanks for the idea. unfortunatly I'm not using serveral
pools
Hi,
retention times are client specific, as far as I
can see. however I have a client with two filesets
and two backup jobs. the first runs nightly and
needs to be kept for a month only, the other one
runs monthly, but needs to be kept for months.
can I somehow set the retention time for each job
When I started using barcode labels I erased all tapes
(with mt commands) and the wrote new bacula labes on them
using "label barcode". also removed the old tapes from the
catalog (or changed them to not recycle).
if you want a mixed setup you can keep using "update slots scan",
once the barcodes
Hi,
I only want bacula to read each tape to make
sure the tape is ok. I don't need the tripwire
style checks. which verify level will do this?
with each backup checksums are written to the catalog
(signature=MD5 flag on the Include line in the fileset).
so I hope bacula can read the tape and chec
Hi,
could someone please post a description of what each media
status is about? It would also be nice to have that in the
documentation.
Catalog page only tells us which status are available:
'Full', 'Archive', 'Append', 'Recycle', 'Purged',
'Read-Only', 'Disabled', 'Error', 'Busy', 'Used', 'Clea

is there any mailman option or extension that
could implement a challange / response system?
(like most mailing lists have for subscription)
that would allow users to read the mailing list via
gmane and post directly to it - after confirming the
challange mail - without the hassle of subscribing

Hi,
is there a way to get this information:
- what are the next five tapes bacula will use in pool xyz?
- "list media", but sorted (e.g. by last written date)
I know these ways, but they aren't easy:
- "list media", cut&paste, manualy sort in my editor,
the five oldest tapes are those that
