I was in the same boat as u months ago. I am on a business trip through the
weekend if u still need help next week, ping me and we can chat about setup.
I'm no pro but we could at least chat about issues and hopefully get them
resolved

It seems to be a good approach to a possible solution I will try later!

Hi Guys,
After weeks of struggle with setting up bacula I feel completely lost and need
help. I am setting up Bacula on a Centos server, the idea is to have different
clients (windows/linux) setup and backup different data on tapes. So far I have
managed to:

Hi, I have a rails web and I want to backup it. I create the job , and it's all
ok, but bacula is sending data through network at the same time it's backuping.
So, because there are files that changes (logs most importantly) and they are
big, it produces errors. So i have to copy the entire fold

Hello All,
Is there a way to limit bacula from using 100% of the disk capacity before
recyling purged volumes?
Thank you.

While I think it might be worthwhile having the configuration dumped in
XML (== machine readable format), I think the other way around is not
something that would be needed in bacula itself. There is a whole bunch
of XSLT processors that would transform a XML-file into a bacula
configuration file.

He is not confused. I think.
The bacula should not to recycle a volume, even if there is not appendable
volumes*.
*The manual says: *"**The Volume Retention record defines the length of time
that Bacula will guarantee that the Volume is not reused** counting from the
time the last job stored on the

Hi all,
after for some reason an error occurs I have a volume which is in
backup mode error. So far so good (or bad).
Last night I had a job which waited for ever for an appendable volume.
I deleted an old error-volume (from the db and filesystem), recreated it
and the job was fine again. But the

Only problem is you can not share tapes between 2 catalogs. For disk
backups that is fine because you can just create separate disk
volumes.

I suggest grepping for "bacula" in all of the installed script files.
In particular, edit the db_name variable in create_postgresql_database,

You can use one Catalog for a set of remote machines, and another for local
machines ... or any else combination!
Catalog = Database in any host.

Does it mean that I can have two catalogs on different machines for one
Director? I was thinking that second catalog can be only another DB/Instance

I've been asked to start backing up a 2+PB project (We're mapping Mars

backups in case it gets split off in future.
There's plenty of information about how to define and use catalogs, but
one thing isn't clear:
