Basically, this snippet from the console sums it all up:
---
[EMAIL PROTECTED] bin]# ./btape -c /usr/local/bacula/bin/bacula-sd.conf
/dev/nst0
Tape block granularity is 1024 bytes.
btape: butil.c:285 Using device: "/dev/nst0" for writing.
btape: btape.c:368

On two of my Bacula installations, entering the command "show nextvol"

- bconsole exits (shell prompt appears)
- bacula-dir process exits (vanishes)
- after restarting bacula-dir and re-entering bconsole, I receive a

change a tape, I have added the line
OfflineOnUnmount = yes; # when unmounted, eject tape
to the Device section of my SLR drive in bacula-sd.conf. T

I'm running full backups at certain intervals, and incremental ones
meanwhile, all these to pools dedicated for "everyday backups".
Then, occasionally, I also run full backups that are stored into different
pool, and the tapes are taken off-site to be used in real emergency only.
