Hi,
I have recently been able to test bacula in a
tapeless configuration. From my tests I
understand that the device listed below
corresponds to a single file.

It is, try reading up the catalog in the manual, it should be pretty

Hi,
This's my first email to the list.

Thanks

Hi,
I have experienced problem with losing volume labels on tapes. This
happened after power cycle tape library and some other times. Every
time, I had to wipe out the tapes to relabel them. Is there a way to
just restore volume label to a tape without affecting data on the tape?
I am using Bacul
Arno,
I like it! That's pretty close to what I wanted.
Suggestions:
In the location definition screen, add a column for "Next Location", so
that one can specify what location is used next.
On the volume display screen, add a check box to select particular
volumes, and a "Move to Next Locati

Yes, and you will run into trouble fairly quickly. My advice -- don't
mess around in that fashion.

Hi,
I know the release notes for 1.38 say "upgrade everything", but I
thought I'd ask on the off-chance.
Has anyone successfully used a 1.36 FD in conjunction with a 1.38.9
SD/director? My own limited testing suggests that it works OK, but I
was wondering if anyone else has tried the same.

Ok. But thanks for your time all the
same!

Hi,
In the /etc/init.d I have the bacula start-script wich controls all daemons.
This script starts my sd via bacula-ctl-sd which is
in the scripts directory.
In the bacula-ctl-sd SD_USER and SD_GROUP are empty,
since I didn't
use the respective configure options.
So it runs as root, right?

Hello,
Maybe
it´s the permission-bug - (are you using a restricted User for SD_USER in
/etc/init.d/bacula-sd?).

- mtx 1.2.18rel (from rpm)
- SuSE 9.0 Kernel 2.4.21-99

Thank you for your advice. When I used your script to determine if
remote host is up or down all previous problems was disappear.
But unhappily it happens once again and now I can see when it happens.
