Hi all,
I've been chasing this one for a while, trying to be sure. It seems that:
IF
- Bacula is configured with separate pools for incremental and full backups,
AND
- an upgraded incremental fails (e.g. client host offline),
THEN
- the SD gets stuck "waiting to reserve a device".
This is w

I think you really have to go with option 1. If it's not really 1.38,
then releasing it as 1.38 is going to give a lot of people headaches
(especially those that are relying upon stable versions).

I know this has been mentioned in the past, but I can't find anything other
than Kern indicating that one should run through the tutorial (which I've
done).
Bacula 1.38.2 on debian sarge, LTO-1 tape drive
When tape tape-0002 fills, I get a request to mount the next available
volume (tape-0003

Zack,
I'm using bacula 1.38.2. so I use the auto-changer resource. Here's
what I have:
Autochanger {
Name = "AutoPakChanger"
Device = AutoPakDrive1
Changer Device = /dev/sg2
Changer Command = "/etc/bacula/mtx-changer %c %o %S %a %d"
}
Device {
Name = AutoPakDrive1
Media Type = AutoPa

On tape it usually does not make sense to use software-compression. When
storing files on (hard)disk software compression (GZIP) is really helpful
to save space. The only way to seperate this is two file sets with
different "Compression" options.
I may be dumb, but I DO

IMHO this is a good idea. And not just because I do it the same way. :)
Kern,
I really don't have a dog in this fight, as I am running Debian "Sarge"
servers which still are at 1.36.2, however, I would like to make these two
observations.
1) This raises a question about just what version numbers mean. I've read an
article or two about "corruption" to versioning sc

Hello,
I have an important decision to make concerning updates to 1.38, and before
making it, I would like to get your input.
The current "production" release is Bacula version 1.38.2. Between the time
it was released (22 November 2005) and now, there are a number of bugs that
have been fixed
When I look in MySQL in the Media table I see that VolStatus is set to
Error... How do I get this out of the error status? I am using file
based storage and no matter how many times I make a new volume it
consistently goes into error status.

Would you also consider allowing an option to do away with the
requirement to explicitly specify
Oooh - There were small backslashes sneaking in after the c: and d: and e:,
I didn't check these because I thought that an error there would have
prevented files from being backed up.
Changed theese to foreward and then counting on all is OK tomorrow after
the new backups
Sure I will never forget

If you look at the re
MySQL was installed from ports (compiled on the computer) and Bacula was
built after that, but if backup are function properly, shouldn`t also
restore?

This looks to me like a problem with MySQL. Did you by any chance load
pre-built binaries rather than build on your system. My best guess at the
moment is that Bacula is built with version X of MySQL and you are running
with version Y on your machine. That means that some of the packet fields

Similarly, if some_name.doc on one system is identical
