Another option is "Logical Volume Manager" (LVM) which allows you to create and manage large multi-disk/partition volumes. http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/LVM-HOWTO/ I have three 225GB drives for a total storage of 675GB on one logical partition... which I can just add more drive space if necessary.
