I have re-formatted my HD and re-installed Mandrake
8.2 with kernel 2.4.18 just to make sure I got rid of the older alsa drivers
that I have tried earlier on. I have downloaded and extracted the latest
development driver for alsa.

After all the trouble and the error message I was getting when compiling
Alsa, I have decided to recompile my kernel. I have spent the last week, as a
newbie, doing my first kernel compilation. Needless to say that I had to
reformat my drive a few times and delete and recompile a few times.

I finally got sound out of my emu1k01 last night. It was only coming out of
the left chanell but at least I'm getting sound. All I have to do now is
figure out with your help how to get sound out of the the other speaker.
I tried every adjustment I could on the mixer with no success until I tri
It appears that although I'm getting sound from my left front speaker, when I
mute the M ic Playback Volume in my mixer I loose the sound. This is when I'm
using my TV Tuner. (All-in-wonder Radeon)
I can also play CD using the Xalsa player and I'm getting sound from my left
front speaker but,
I downloaded Alsaplayer and was able to hear sound when playing CD.
However when I use Xine to play an mpeg file I don't hear sound.
This is the latest result when I run 'cat /proc/modules'
isofs 25568 1 (autoclean)
inflate_fs 18496 0 (autoclean) [isofs]
snd-pcm-os
I noticed that almost everybody that has posted an issue here are showing
the module 'soundcore'
What did I miss when I compiled my kernel that I don't see that when I run
'lsmod'
Thanks.

I have posted several times about only getting sound of my left front
speaker. Not only that but it's odd that, if I MUTE the MIC on the Alsa
Avview comes with a GUI mixer (alsa_mixer.scp) after you compile it.
Don't know if this is one of the programs that "won't compile"

Will there be support for this card??
thanks.
Thanks for the reply. I am using the sf driver now and I have sound. I
wanted ALSA instead but I guess I would just have to wait or buy a new
supported card.
