Make sure your gcc version matches the gcc version that compiled your Linux
kernel and your kernel modules (check: gcc --version ; cat /proc/version).
Also check /System.map and/or /boot/System.map (should be copied from your

No. I build the kernel with the only version of GCC on this machin

I am using alsa 1.0.0rc2 and as far as I remember, I couldn't get xmms
to work with arts output plugin, when arts is hooked to alsa using
48kHz. When I leave arts at default, xmms plays, but sound
stutters/garbels (I think someone already reported this). I wonder
