Brett, I don't have the slightest idea!!! There were problems on the snd-intel driver that were solved or mitigated at least by using this option. Someone, Jaroslav or Clemens possibly, suggested I try it, and it solved my problem, in the sense that my on-board sound was unusable and become tolerable. I still have a real problem with levels, and if I turn it up using alsamixer I don't get a lot of voltage out of the port, but the sound is still terribly distorted. (I.e. - the distortion is NOT coming from the AI-3 into which this is plugged, but it's in the driver or the sound chip itself.) Anyway, at least this way I get a reasonable environment to play the games you've helped me get working! ;-) Cheers, Mark ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: SF.net Giveback Program.
