I noticed when I installed the alsa cs46xx driver that the AC'97 codec supported various IEC958 options, and so I am now trying to get a S/PDIF link between my laptop and audio receiver. The IEC958 device is hw:0.2. When I use that device (or "spdif" or "iec958") in mplayer, the program opens the
