Hi
I have a ASUS A7V8X-X motherboard with an onboard SoundMax AD1980
Via8233 AC97 soundcard.
I compiled alsa 0.9.6 with my 2.4.21 kernel and I had no problems.

options snd-via82xx index=0 dxs_support=2
solved the problem with the high pitched sound in 44.1. I tried all the

Hello,
I seem to have a mental block with alsa install. When I test for sound
with aplay, I get no noise and this result:
abu /usr/yokel/bin ./aplay /usr/share/sounds/KDE_Window_Open.wav
Playing WAVE '/usr/share/sounds/KDE_Window_Open.wav' : Signed 16 bit

Howdy and thanks for the response.
I tried the above but I had the wonderful situation of being told that "alsa
isn't running" followed by "alsa already r
