I downloaded the alsa driver, lib en utils 0.9. I have Red Hat 7.3 and kernel
version 2.4.18-5. Everthing compiled fine. But when i tried to insert the
module with insmod en modprobe. But by both of the commands i get unresolved
symbols. Is this I know problem? I've got FM801 sounddevice.

I'm trying to install the stable version of ALSA. When I try to
./configure the drivers, it says it can't find version.h in the
/usr/src/linux/include/linux/ directory. I went and downloaded the
source files for my kernel (2.4.18) and installed them in /us

I don't seem to be able to get any sound out of my Soundblaster 16 PCI
with the alsa drivers. The oss driver es1371 seems to work fine. I am
not sure what info will help, so please tell me and i will post it.

Erwin,
You should not use "insmod" because this means you will
have to load al modeules by hand and in the correct order.
To do this use the "modeprob" command.
