Recording via the OSS API with aoss will not work in full duplex as you
have set the slave PCM to "output". Try changing that to "duplex".
Also try removing the .asoundrc e

Hi.
My mainboard is a Tyan Thunder K8WE (S2895) (details can be found here
http://tyan.com/products/html/thunderk8we.html and here

It uses Nvidia nForce Professional 2200 chipset which includes an AC97 compliant
soundchip.

Hi.
It works!
It was my fault ( of course ;-).
I was using the wrong syntax for the mencoder call.
With this call (and so nothing about my tv-cards within /etc/asound.conf) it
works:
/usr/bin/mencoder tv://E5 -tv
driver=v4l2:device=/dev/v4l/video0:width=640:height=480:chanlist=europe-west:a

I am quiet desperate...

at home I have 2 cards, a via82xx and a ens1371.
the via82xx onboard has 2 devices, I'd like to know if it is possible to split
that card in 2 seperated cards, each stereo instead of one surround card.
it does not have to be split exactly, but I wonder if I could set the asoundrc

Hi,
In the process of debuging the problems some hdsp users are
experiencing, I reviewed almost every single line of code in the hdsp
driver, and there are things in there that were inherited from the old
rme9652 driver and that don't seem relevant anymore for the hdsp

In most cases, yes.
It comes in handy if you have a bunch of MIDI bytes and don't want to
manage the complexity of parsing them and/or creating sequencer

Rawmidi devices ("/dev/snd/midiCxCx") are compatibility interfaces,

Hi there, I recently picked up an Extigy and built
alsa for it (before i had alsa built for an intel810 and a Midisport 2x2
midiman, now i just have the extigy and that's it)
After building it, I got sound, and the midi input
was working great, but I couldn't play 2 things at the same time.

Hi all. I've noticed some peculiarities with my driver that I'm hoping to
clear up here. Whenever I use arecord to record a wav, I always try to use
the following sample format: 16-bit unsigned 44100 hz. However, when I try
using this format, arecord outputs something similar to: xrun: at least
0.
I have a question pertaining to my Avance Logic ALS4000. I have tried
using the Alsa drivers to no avail. I have not been able to get it
configured properly. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I do the
./configure, make, and make install for the drivers, utils, and libs.
