Hi. Additionally to my problems with the onboard sound chip that I've reported in another post,.. I'm think about buying a 2nd soundcard for my computer an afaik the TerraTec Aureon 7.1 soundcards are very good cards.
According to the kernel-docs I assume that at least the following two should be supported by snd-ice1724: - TerraTec Aureon 7.1 Space - TerraTec Aureon 7.1 Universe Correct? What is about the Aureon 7.1 FireWire? Is there support for it? My board (Tyan Thunder K8WE (S2895); details can be found here http://tyan.com/products/html/thunderk8we.html and here http://tyan.com/products/html/thunderk8we_spec.html) has the following expansions slots left available: Two independent 64-bit PCI-X buses: - Slot 4 & 5: PCI-X 100 MHz max. (Bridge B) - Slot 6: PCI-X 133 MHz max. (Bridge A) All these are PCI-X with 3,3V (see I for example http://www.swyx.com/uk/support/ssdb.html?kbid=kb2471 for slot layout). As far as I can see on the TerraTec site for the Aureon 7.1 Space (http://sounden.terratec.net/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=149) this card has a PCI (32bit) 5 V only interface (see the image) so it definitely won't work with my board, right? But the Aureon 7.1 Universe (http://sounden.terratec.net/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=197) seem to have a PCI (32bit) 3,3 V and 5 V compatible interface,... so in general (and please correct me if I'm wrong !!!!) this should be usable with my PCI-X (64bit) 3,3 V bus, too. So only two cards of the Aureon 7.1 Family are left as an option for me: - TerraTec Aureon 7.1 Universe - TerraTec Aureon 7.1 FireWire (but I don't know if there's Linux support) In general I tend to buy the Universe. 1) Does it support full duplex and hardware mixing? 2) Is it fully supported by ALSA (all features)? If not,.. what isn't supported? 3) Are there any known problems, inconveniences, missing features that would be useful, etc. with that card? Lots of thanks for your help in advance.
