As i posted before i am on a user manual[1] (by now in spanish) about sound infraestructure in Linux. I need some answers in order to fill some dark zones on the manual. I was unable to post the first block of questions on devel list so i post them here. Web references or code references may sufice as answers if they exist althought code and API documentation lacks of some semantics or glossary definition that is what i usually want to obtain. Let's start with the ALSA sequencer: - Which is the use that can have rawmidi that sequencer don't? It is only a backward compatibility interface? - What is 'virmidi' for? (The wiki tells a lot of things on how install it, but why i should install it?) - Is there some scheme in the sequencer client numbering? Is written anywhere? - As i undestood there is always an event queue for each writing client, am I wrong? - Are MIDI transport actions implemented? (Some proposal documentation talks about them but i have not found any other reference) - Is the proposal (on Iwai web) about syncronization implemented? Is it the same way it is proposed? - Where can i see syncronization capabilities of a client port? - How queues are numbered (to locate them in the 0:16+n port)? How can i know which queue that is related to some normal port in order to arrange syncs? - May I use the sequencer to sequence non MIDI events? (ie. NonMIDI custom ligthing controls events to schedule them to an external usb device) - What is the sense of assigning groups to client ports? Thanks, in advance, for your help. Lately, I will post more questions on other related subjects. -- David García Garzón <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Phone: 034 93 542 21 99 Music Technology Group, Institut Universitari de l'Audiovisual Universitat Pompeu Fabra ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: SF.net Giveback Program.
