Hello,
When I type "alsactl restore", it does not load the driver state.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Open a first terminal dedicated to alsa-mixer
2. Open a second terminal where you will type the following commands
3. In the first terminal, press F4, set the audio volume for capture to 40
4. In the

options snd slots=snd-virtuoso,snd-usb-audio
in some .conf file in /etc/modprobe.d/.

Hello.
On a Gentoo systemd system, with alsa-restore.service enabled, alsactl
sometimes fails to restore the mixer settings at system boot. Failure
rate is about 50/50. Half the time it restores correctly, half the time
it does nothing.
However, even when it fails, systemd thinks it succeede

Hi alsa folks,

since alsa 0.9.8 packages, alsactl always crashes when invocated
from /etc/init.d/alsasound start or stop (so w/ -f and store/restore command),
whereas it works well from console after init completion.
It seems to crash from 0.9.8, but probably since 0.9.7 too (OK w/ 0.9.3-0.9.
Hi,
I just backported Debian unstable ALSA packages to my stable
system. Current ALSA version packaged in the unstable branch is 0.9.4.
The script /etc/init.d/alsa includes calling alsactl store on stopping
and alsactl restore on starting, so mixer settings are saved between
sessions. However, th

I'm having an annoying problem with alsactl, on shutdown
it hangs when trying to save the state of all the mixer
controls. During startup I haven't had a problem, but
if I manually run the alsa startup script, it hangs trying
to restore the state and

Using rc7, I have all mixers set to muted and volume at 0.
I have no problem with sound if I set it with alsamixer.
Becoming root and run /etc/init.d/alsactl start|store when the machine
is up saves correctly the values into /etc/asound.state.
But if I hit halt|shutdown| ctr-alt-del, the alsactl
"alsactl restore 0" gives error and does not restore mixer settings which
have to be changed manually when rebooting. This is painful but doable
since the sound works fine other than for this glitch.
The error is:
boris:~/# alsactl restore 0
alsactl: set_control:960: Cannot write control '3:0:0:
