Hi alsa folks,

1/
since alsa 0.9.8 packages, alsactl always crashes when invocated
from /etc/init.d/alsasound start or stop (so w/ -f and store/restore command),
whereas it works well from console after init completion.

It seems to crash from 0.9.8, but probably since 0.9.7 too (OK w/ 0.9.3-0.9.6).
I've installed all sources for 0.9.8 upgrade (driver, lib, oss, utils, tools).

My system is a SuSE 8.1 base, kernel 2.4.19-4GB, glibc 2.2.5.

2/
I've noticed that /etc/asound.state contains a section for card0 AND for
I82801CAICH3 (which is my sound chipset). There's a I82801CAICH3
subdir in /proc/asound symlinked to card0. Is this expected to have
both state sections in the .state file?

3/
I've also noticed that the .state file is containing (for each state section)
a set of 53 controls. Controls from 42 to 53 in state.I82801CAICH3 may
generate errors when alsactl restore get them, so I've removed them.
The errors are no longer there, but the controls 42-53 are still stored for
state.card0. I'm a bit confused about this :-).
All this stuff came from recent alsa version, IIRC. Is there something
I've missed or something wrong?

Regards,
