Hi!
I'm trying to get the most out of my surround system.
Now I'm trying to get LPCM pass through directly to my receiver over S/DIF.
I'm not getting it to work. Could it be that it is supposed to be sent
in 190kHz and the M-Audio Delta 1010LT only support up to 96kHz?
This is what mplayer says:

Perhaps the iecset command could help?
It has boolean options for audio mode and professional mode.
But I
Solved it!!! :D
After a couple of hours of trying different combinations of settings I
finally found what was wrong!
For AC3 or DTS pass through in Envy24Control must be set:
-Hardware Settings:Professional:Data-Mode = Non-audio
-Patchbay/Router:S/PDIF OUT (L) = S/PDIF OUT (L)
-Patchbay/Rout

Ah, ok that is good to know! Can the 1010LT card send activity on its
diffrent channels as DTS, Dolby Digital or anything else. Eg. can I

I think I have. I have downloaded some from the net.
If I have activity on 5 channels when watching in Envy24Control is the
PCM-stream that is sent from the card automaticly compressed into DTS
or any other stand

Hi!
I'm having trouble getting surround sound working with my M Audio
Delta 1010LT over S/PDIF.
When I run:
> speaker-test -Dplug:surround40 -c4 -l1 -twav
It seems that all channels have been mixed into my two front speakers,
no sound on my two rear speakers.
I have tried playing movies via mplay
All,
I'm using a Roland UA-1EX
(http://www.rolandus.com/products/productdetails.aspx?ObjectId=743) and
using the optical out.
I'm having some very basic surround sound issues, I believe.
Doing a simple speaker-test -c 6 I see the following output:
speaker-test 1.0.18rc3
Playback
I'm trying to get surround sound working on PS3's (w/ alsa under linux).
I'm able to get Stereo through the SPDIF, and my understanding is that I should
be able to pass-through AC3 encoded audio to get surround sound.
Has any one got this to work, or can some-one assert that it can't be done?

Thanks for the reply.
Well I tried your version of .asoundrc file but this gives me no surround
sound. The aplay -lLv gives among other a card.pcm.surround51 output. I
think that by using slave.pcm "surround51" we use a strandart

Hi there,
I have a Hercules Fortissimo III soundcard which refers to the cs46xx

the following:

slave.pcm "surround51"
slave.channels 6

Hi!
I didn't see you trying the following command, which, in contrary to the
commands below, should work:
speaker-test -c -Dsurround51
This plays a 6 channel audio stream on a 6 channel device. The commands
below played 2 channel streams on 6 channel devices or 6 channel streams

Hello,
I've got an issue with the M-Audio Revolution 5.1 card. Basically, I can
only get it to output 2.0 stereo; the LFE, center, and surround channels
are silent.
ALSA 1.0.13, OpenSUSE 10.1 stock RPMs.
I ran alsaconf and configured the card with the ice1724 driver (I

Do you mean the receiver has no way to display whether it's receiving
PCM or AC3, or that the indicator is not active?
