All I can say is good luck and I hope you don't plan to use the S/PDIF
port anytime soon for 5.

I have a BioStar, not a Gigabyte. I do not feel like digging up the
mailing lists, but if it works on your chipset..good for you, it doesnt
help me.

That's a slightly older VIA chipse than in this one. I was reading about
possible differences with registers(?) used for the mixers.

To anyone that can help:
I have noticed many people on this list have had similar problems, but
going through the archives I could not find a solution. I have a BioStar

I have a VIA 8233 AC '97 chipset. It works fine with the standard
packaged kernel driver. I installed the
alsa-driver,alsa-libs,alsa-util,alsa-tools,etc. The kernel driver loads
fine and I am starting the /etc/init.d/alsasound and /etc/init.d/alsactl
scripts. These load with no errors either. I co

use an ethernet connected machine instead, but I'm not sure how to do
this. Once you get oops output it can be processed with ksymoops to find
out where the crash is occuring. This should be done without the
NVdriver loaded since it "taints" the kernel. Good luck figuring th

wrote a script to look at /proc/interrupts every second and I noticed
that moving controls on the PCR-50 didn't cause the interrupts for the
USB controller to increase additionally while moving my USB mouse will.
If anyone has any tips on how to get this working, I woul
what I am doing wrong. If you think you could offer any
help or suggestions I would be thankful.
Thank you for your time.
Josh.
P.S. I am using the kernel from my install (Slackware 8.0) kernel 2.2.19
