Ok, so i posted to the list a week ago with a SB Live value problem of constant high pitched ringing instead of PCM audio. After trying the card with OSS drivers and a knoppix boot disc, i'm gonna put money on it being a trashed card. I'm a full time linux user, and full time recording engineer.

Hi, I have a Terratec Aureon 5.1 Fun and alsa 0.9.3 on RedHat 9. I use gnome-alsamixer for setting the volume and there's a switch in gnome-alsamixer called "IEC958 Input". I guess that's what you're looking for. So, you might wanna try upgrading to alsa 0.9.3 and/or try gnome-alsamixer. HTH, Levi
