[Alsa-user] Alsa freshrpm

2002-12-08 Thread Rick
I have Red Hat 8.0 and installed freshrpm ALSA packages. After installation the instructions say to modprobe snd-sb16 but it says module is not found. The rpm installation of the four packages went fine. The kernel, the driver, the lib, and the utils. What am I doing wrong? --

Hello! I don't know very much about the via chip, but as I told you, I also had a lot of problems with my mic. But maybe you might try to use aumix, which is an ossmixer. Remember to load the oss-simulation (oss-*). But if you have a real sb16 or another (not onboard) card, better use that one, f

[Alsa-user] alsa mixer controls not like with oss...

Thanks to Julien Claassen, my mic record is now working and with boost on, is stonger. But, there is one thing I do not understand concerning the mixer. On the oss Sound Blaster model, mic had it's own individual volume control, which effects record level, and then a master record volume contro

2002-12-08 Thread Julien Patrick Claassen
Hello! With my VIA 82c686a I had a boost switch. Call alsamixer and take a look it was directly next to the mic. But at my via it also didn't really work. I connected my mic and had worse results than you. This might not have been very helpful, especially, since I'm not much of an expert. Kin

[Alsa-user] VIA 82c686b, weak record, is there a "boost" setting?

2002-12-08 Thread Jeff Pierce
I finally got mic record working with my VIA 82c686B equipped mobo using snd-via82xx. However, the record audio level is much lower then with a SB 16 ISA in the same system. Is there some kind of "boost setting"? I now there is on a SB PCI. Setting it gives an xxdb increase. I ran a test using

[For the people I've CC'ed: this might interest you. Read quoted message below for context.] Hi all, So I downloaded the emu10k1 tools, screwed around with them a bit and now got my sound working. This is with the OSS drivers, but I will explain what I did anyway, it might be helpful for ALSA al

[Alsa-user] tascam us428

2002-12-08 Thread IberSpace
Hello, I just realized the Tascam US428 is usable with ALSA now. Could anybody tell me about the latency? I have it running on w2k using PD and the portaudio-asioport and somehow it takes 1 input buffer and 4 output buffers (which are not adjustable (latency= 5*buffer). Contrary the RME 9652 just

I forgot to mention... I'm using alsa from cvs today. I just now checked for updates, and the only update since I checked out was in rme32.c. On Sun, Dec 08, 2002 at 02:01:55AM -0800, Paul Winkler wrote: > I picked up an Oxygen today, and I seem to get as far as > getting the firmware loaded (via

[Alsa-user] snd-usb-audio and Midiman Oxygen

2002-12-08 Thread Paul Winkler
I picked up an Oxygen today, and I seem to get as far as getting the firmware loaded (via midisport_firmware) and loading the snd-usb-audio module, but I don't seem to be able to actually use it. I have kernel 2.4.19, with the latest hotplug and fxload sources from the hotplug sourceforge page (no
