Thanks to Julien Claassen, my mic record is now working and with boost on, is stonger.

But, there is one thing I do not understand concerning the mixer. On the oss Sound Blaster model, mic had it's own individual volume control, which effects record level, and then a master record volume control. Also an imix control that allowed recording data to be output to the output mixer and on to line out.

However, with the mixer's interaction with the via 82c686b, this dos not hold true.
I seems that the mic's volume only effects its volume on the line out, and only the record's MASTER volume, plus the boost switch state, effects the volume of the data fed to the A/D.

Take gmix, with oss SB 16, varying mic causes recorded volume to change, but nothing comes out line out. Varying 'Mix' causes the mic to be heard on line out and varies the level. 'Igain' also effects mic output volume to A/D.

Using alsa snd-via82xxx, 'Mic' causes volume changes to mics input on line out, but has no effect on A/D audio. 'Igain' causes level variation on teh recorded audio, but does not effect at line out. And 'Mix' has no effect at all.

Is this right?
Is this just a quirk of the via mixer chip?
