Now I have downloaded the 5 alsa 0.9 tarballs
unpacked them, got the patch and ran it, then did
./configure --with-cards=via8233 --with-oss=yes
make
make install
for the drivers dir
and for the others did
./configure
make
make install
All went well, no errors

Currently before running a MIDI file I need to load manually the sound bank
into my sound card with sfxload.
Because sfxload requests /dev/sequencer, I load manually snd-seq-oss in order
to create it.
And then I can run:

Honza says he has the same board as me so i'm following his instructions, using the configure.dif patch and his instructions to use the via8233 driver not the ALS4000
however i get a configure error after i'
