hello all.
I am a linux newbie... I have A SB Live! sound card and can't get it to work.
I am using linux kernel 2.4-4GB (SuSE 7.2) . I have trie all the mixer
settings... they are ok.. I had to remove my winmodem b/c of an irq conflict.
So, that is okay. her is somr info that maybe helpful...
THE PROBLEM
I have been using computers for over 20 years but am still pretty computer
iliterate (DOS batch files, Excel Macros and Unix database enquiries are
about my limit).
For a long time I have been using various versions of Windows, Excel & IE to
do my work. This PC is also used by myself
I was pleasently surprised today when I looked at the sound card matrix
today and saw that the TerraTec EWS88MT was white instead of green.
So I grabbed the lastest beta (9), configured it with ice1712 support.
Compiled, installed, tried to insert the module, but modprobe just sat
there, ps shows
Thanks to Takashi, my nm256 driver no longer crashes on load.
alsamixer now runs and looks OK.
But I can't get anything from aplay!
$ aplay -v schubert.wav
Playing WAVE 'schubert.wav' : Signed 16 bit Little Endian, Rate 44100 Hz, Mono
aplay: pcm_params.c:781: snd_pcm_hw_param_set_near: Assertio
Thanks for the help, Takashi, it now loads without crashing!
Can't play anything, though. :( I'm starting a new thread for that...
