Dear All, Is there any approach to update/synchronize an offline alpine email archive, while I'm doing all the sending/receiving of email on a different computer (which is online)? The offline and the online computer would be connected once in a while via some encrypted file transfer via a cable. A

Using Alpine 2.26 on macOS. Both IMAP and SMTP servers require passwords for auth. Alpine saves the IMAP password in the macOS Keychain, but not the SMTP password so I have to type it at least once per session. Is this a known issue or just a "me problem" that might have a fix? Is there a way t

Chime, I still agree with some others. Speaking personally, the most efficient way to interface gmail with alpine is to use Imap create an app password specifically for alpine, and configure accordingly. Although there are steps, once done, my own gmail account works just fine with Alpine. g

Setting TMP, TEMP or TEMPDIR is just the kind of solution I was looking for, but I could not find it until Eduardo told me. In fact, I have still not found the relesase notes he refers to, but export TEMP="$HOME/tmp" seems to work just fine. Thanks for your interest in my question.

Well Matt-and-All: I agree about "s" for save, but then I must type a control+t followed by I think its a "less than" then I arrow through existing folders hitting enter. For some unknown reason, if I am saving messages to spam, I must select the 2nd instance of "spam learn" after spam training.
