Me too. I find it hard to see what all the fuss is about. I like using gmail for some things, prefer alpine for other things, and a google application password makes it quite straightforward to switch back and forth. The only (mild) complication that I experience is that my primary gmail account is provided by my university, which insists that I change password every year, and when I do so it seems my application password for alpine also expires and has to be renewed. Not really a big deal.
