For me this issue fixed it self when I entered the hdmi cable again,
then choose the hdmi sound card, then remove the cable, the normal
speakers worked back.

Did you try opening the installation dvd from ubuntu, does it mount and read
normally? I'd suspect that the dvd is damaged and it keeps trying to read

Now that wahid mentioned it, i once had a kinda of close problem, but it was
on a linux system, the /tmp (temporary folder) didn't have write access for
all users, so i wasn't able to even logon the system at all, a terminal
access in recovery mode was possible though, so i changed the tmp folder

Well i don't think you can do any thing about it, you should take it to get
repaired at some professional place, and about the LAN socket, that's pretty
weird, i don't think that's supposed to happen.
