since have another screen to use, i would hook it there then reduce the
resolution to something like 1024x786 then apply, if the screen starts
working then the problem is simply an out of range resolution, after that u
can go with the resolution step by step up till u find your screen's optimal
resolution.
try it and tell us if it works.
