I haven’t seen the PCN you reference, but I suspect it is a standard satellite ground station PCN since 18 GHz would be their downlink and 28 GHz the uplink. Part 25.203(c2) covers the coordination requirements for ground stations in shared bands and the PCN must include an antenna horizon gain

I'm assuming then that they have specified some antenna with a pattern which results in being licensed for 360 degrees at the EIRP they need. I.E if you coordinate a 5 degree beamwidth antenna every 5 degrees you'll end up with 360 degrees of coverage being licensed. This is one of those pull out

Whatever PCN they have to file, it has to be unique relative to fixed-position transceivers. I have no idea how they chose to handle this. Interesting they are using 18 GHz; Down here in the dense air world, I would not expect 18 GHz to reliably go more than 10 mi

Are they evenly spaced? I don't think I've looked close enough at a pcn to see if elevation (angle above horizon) is specified. Makes me wonder if the PCN is set up with that many beams to coordinate a link that could be pointed in any direction. On Sat, Mar 12, 2022, 2:45 PM Jason McKemie < j.m

I also saw an article with a statement from Musk saying they are about to release version one of the ground terminal with the cost down to $500 and he's shooting to get it to $250.   That will help the red numbers a lot.   That way at least each subscriber isn't a negative asset for more than 2

That's what I meant by "running deep in the negative". Estimates are that they've invested between $5 billion and $10 billion so far. 69,000 paying clients will not pay for that. They have > 1,600 working satellites and are soon to have their first level conste

I felt the SN8 flight looked better, but maybe they were trying some new maneuvers. It seemed to me (armchair quarterback that I am), that they made the flip to vertical way too late. The telemetry seems to bear that out; I think they intended to flip at ~~ 1.5 km

Someone should be filming the whole thing launch to splashdown for an IMAX movie. Or are we so jaded that no one would pay to see it? Like recounted in the movie Apollo 13, the networks weren't even showing the Apollo missions on TV until there was a possible disaster, and 50 more years have gone
