One more note on this topic for our mutual education:
We had an IP block acquired from Cogent where we submitted geolocation
updates, but things kept reverting back to "Albany, NY"
That's because Cogent had a geofeed specifying Albany, NY for the whole /19.
We were advised to make our own geofeed
I guess the long term answer to this is going to be RFC8805 and RFC9092.
You stick a CSV file on the web matching your IP blocks to a city and state,
then add a comment on your IP Blocks with ARIN which contains a URL to the
geofeed CSV.
The geolocation providers who support this will periodic
otarized affidavit to screw it up.

Which services do you need to update when you move IP blocks or get new blocks?
I can’t believe they all have their own separate databases. There must be
smaller ones that key off of larger ones.

I'm sure this has been asked here before but how does one get a new IP block
to geolocate correctly? I have been having issues with this since
advertising the new block. Any help is appreciated.

Matching forward and reverse DNS is best practice in any case. Less
chance of email issues, and I feel like a state postal abbreviation in
the name might give the geo location people a clue.

Is there just one geo location database?
Is there a cost to get your IPs put in the database(s)?

Yeah, I am working my way through the list, but most of them don’t have a way
to submit info. They just want to sell you info. So I am sending lots of
emails.

There's a few companies and organizations with their own GeoIP databases,
Maxmind is the biggest, and there is a funny (and frightening) story about
the risk in those assumptions:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2016/08/10/lawsuit-how-a-quiet-kansas-home-wound-up-with-600-million
I dont understand why theres not a service for that. I looked and looked,
but may have been looking the wrong direction. the brothers wisp guide
covers the big ones, and i believe theyre still updating it. It would be
nice if that were an RIR component where the geolocation services pull from
there
Pretty sure those services infer location based on data collected from
3rd parties. Cell phone data, what WiFi SSID's you see, Cell phone
locations, etc. Often they can get it exactly right, sometimes they
only get the right state. There's someplace in the middle of Kansas
which is the geloc

At least with VUE, you can sign into your account from a PC on the same
network and 'fix' the location. That seems to have worked. No idea why
it would have thought otherwise.

Do the Geolocation services usually care about your upstream providers,
or only your IP Blocks? I turned up a new upstream last week, and now
today Playstation Vue thinks that I'm in Milwaukee instead of Chicago.
